As you plan your visit to the heart of Stanford’s energy system, here are some guidelines to help you flow through an exciting tour of our Central Energy Facility. 

Arrival & Parking

Safety

The number one priority of a tour is the safety of our staff and visitors. Be informed of what to expect during a tour with active equipment and technology. 

Additional Parking Information

Visitors will need to request a parking permit for the day on Stanford’s Parking & Transportation website, or via Parkmobile.com (a mobile application), or by calling  1-877-727-5718. Additionally, visitors can park in one of ten visitor pay parking spots for the day that do not require permits but can be paid on arrival. Additionally, the Searsville Parking lot offers two handicap parking spots as well as three Stanford University Service Vehicle parking spots.    

Group Size

Visitor tour group sizes are 15-20 members per group with each of our industry-expert guides. Please inform us of your group size so that we can provide the best experience for your group. 

Tour Length

Guided tours typically last one hour and include time to ask questions with industry experts.

What To Bring

  • Closed toed and closed heel shoes (i.e. no sandals, high heels, flip flops)
  • Water for the tour (no smoking, food, or alcoholic beverages)
  • Cell phones and cameras for photography (yes, photos are allowed!)
  • What *not* to bring: food, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or items for smoking, firearms

What To Do When You’re Here

Step 1: Sign in with the Control Room

Step 2: Your CEF representative will join you to accompany you around the CEF 

Step 3: All members aged 18+ of the group will follow with the full tour – members younger than 18 years are permitted in the courtyard and admin areas

Step 4: Stay in designated aisles and walking areas and keep hands away from equipment and surfaces

Step 5: Read and follow all safety warning signs
