Walking Tours
Whether you are visiting out of curiosity, academic interest, or professional exploration, our tours are designed to give you a meaningful look at our operations and the impact of our work. We currently offer two distinct tour experiences designed to meet different interests and levels of familiarity:
Through the Glass Tour (Perimeter Tour)
Our Through the Glass Tour is a guided walk around the facility that highlights key exterior areas and provides an overview of the Central Energy Facility’s purpose and operations. This tour does not include entry into mechanical rooms, so personal protective equipment (PPE) is not required. It is designed for campus community members, industry guests, and community visitors and focuses on a balanced mix of general context and high-level system descriptions. The tour length is approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour.
Technical Tour (Interior Tour)
Our Technical Interior Tour includes both an exterior walk-through and guided access to select mechanical spaces within the facility. This tour is intended for technical faculty, students, utility professionals, and special guests and requires the use of PPE. It offers a more in-depth explanation of facility systems and operations and focuses on the engineering of the plant. The tour length is approximately 1- 2 hours.
